Nedu Accused of Misappropriating NGO Scholarships Meant for Nigerian Students, Claims VeryDarkMan

Controversial social media figure Martin Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has leveled serious accusations against On-Air Personality (OAP) and former The Honest Bunch podcast host, Chinedu Ani Emmanuel (Nedu). VeryDarkMan claims that Nedu diverted funds from an NGO’s scholarship programme intended to support Nigerian students.

In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan outlined how Nedu allegedly took advantage of a charity that had brought him on board to promote their scholarship initiative.

“I told myself I wouldn’t speak on this Nedu Wazobia issue again because of the many calls I received, especially from people I really respect. Even when he was hospitalized, people asked me to let it go. I agreed, but today I’ve received a lot of evidence showing that Nedu defrauded them,” VeryDarkMan said.

He expressed particular outrage over the nature of the alleged fraud, especially given that it involved charitable donations.

“This kind of fraud, charity fraud, is what I hate the most. The worst part is how they used people like Timaya, Kcee, and others without their knowledge,” he added. “I’m sure Timaya doesn’t know that Nedu used his name for this, but once he sees this video, I’m sure he’ll call me.”

According to VeryDarkMan, Nedu was invited to an event by a man based in the UK. While there, Nedu reportedly took on the role of Master of Ceremony (MC), during which the event host introduced a charity project offering scholarships through the Metropolitan School of Business and Management in the UK.

The organisers decided to partner with Nedu, believing his image and influence would boost the programme’s credibility and attract more applicants. “Nedu agreed to represent the charity, claiming he personally sponsored students and that this initiative aligned with his values,” VeryDarkMan recounted.

Nedu allegedly proposed a major publicity campaign in Nigeria, claiming his name would draw attention to the relatively unknown Metropolitan Business School. He submitted a budget labelled “Budget for Nedu Charity Gala,” which included payments for 10 influencers at ₦500,000 each (₦5 million), digital marketing costs (₦3.5 million), 20 LED billboards (₦7 million), video production (₦2 million), media coverage (₦1.56 million), and other expenses. The total amounted to ₦85 million, with an upfront payment of ₦60 million.

The NGO agreed to the proposal, and payments were made to Nedu in installments.

However, after receiving the funds, Nedu allegedly stopped responding to calls, and his manager became uncooperative. The organisers grew suspicious when they found that no advertisements had been placed on major blogs, websites, or billboards as promised.

“During the event, Fiokee and others performed, but when it was time to discuss the charity, Nedu displayed his Moniepoint account details instead of the organisation’s. Around 450 students had already registered for scholarships through Nedu’s platform, but now they are left stranded,” VeryDarkMan alleged.

He further claimed that Nedu misdirected the funds, preventing the NGO from providing the scholarships.

“They invested ₦60 million to promote the scholarship programme and help Nigerian students, but Nedu diverted all the funds into his personal account instead of the UK-based Metropolitan Business School’s account. Now, everything has fallen apart,” he added.

VeryDarkMan announced plans to take legal action, saying, “I’ve assured them I will file a petition on their behalf and take it to the proper authorities. Nedu must be held accountable for the ₦60 million and explain where the money went.”

He also expressed frustration with the broader issue of fraudulent NGOs in Nigeria, adding, “This is what I’m saying about NGOs in Nigeria—they create the illusion of helping, but in reality, it’s fraud. Many celebrities who run NGOs are frauds—it’s all a lie.”
