Heat: Relief As Ilorin Records First Rain In 2025
Residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, have expressed immense relief following the first rain of 2025, which brought a welcome respite from the scorching heat that had plagued the city.
The downpour, which occurred on Saturday night, swept across the Ilorin metropolis, cooling the air and ushering in a refreshing breeze that lasted well into Sunday morning.
LEADERSHIP had previously reported on the unbearable heat wave that had made life uncomfortable for many residents of Ilorin. The extreme heat, combined with frequent power outages, led some residents to sleep in open spaces within their homes to catch a breath of fresh air.
According to our correspondent, many in the downtown areas were particularly affected, seeking relief under the stars, as the nighttime heat became nearly unbearable.
Residents were overjoyed with the arrival of the rain. Alh Shina Adanla shared his gratitude: “We thank God for giving us the first rain on Saturday. Most residents experienced deep and joyous sleep last night. The rain has definitely relieved the excessive heat we’ve been enduring.”
Similarly, Alhaja Mulika Sulaiman also expressed her happiness, saying, “We are so happy to have the first rain this year. It’s a huge relief from the intense heat we’ve been experiencing.”
The rainfall was not only a physical comfort but also a welcome change after weeks of sweltering temperatures, giving Ilorin’s residents hope for cooler days ahead.
