I Won’t Accept Delta Gov’s Offer Of SUV, N10m Monthly — Senator Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has firmly rejected an offer from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, which includes a Land Cruiser vehicle and N10 million in monthly payments.

Nwoko made this declaration over the weekend in Idumuje Ugboko, Anicha North local government area of Delta State.

The lawmaker, who was elected under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to a leadership crisis in the PDP, expressed that the offer from the governor was not in the best interest of his constituents.

While addressing the issue, Nwoko voiced his dissatisfaction with the offer, stating that the resources should be directed toward benefiting the people of Delta rather than being used for personal gain. His primary goal, he emphasized, was to improve the lives of his constituents, not to indulge in personal luxury.

“I am dissatisfied with the offer. I won’t accept the offer of a Land Cruiser and N10 million monthly from the governor. The funds should be used for the people rather than for self-interest. My primary goal as a Senator is to improve the lives of my constituents,” Nwoko stated.

The Senator also criticized the PDP’s long-standing dominance in Delta State, which he claimed has prioritized self-perpetuation in power, leading to a lack of political competition and stifling the state’s development. Nwoko expressed his belief that the 25-year rule of the PDP in Delta will come to an end by the 2027 general elections.

He accused PDP leaders of focusing more on retaining their power than addressing the welfare of the people, describing the state’s political environment as one where stagnation has set in due to the absence of competition.

Nwoko expressed excitement about joining the APC, citing his dissatisfaction with the PDP’s control of Delta State, which he claimed has left the region stagnant and underdeveloped. He drew comparisons with the United States, where political power alternates between parties to foster progress, and vowed to end what he described as “slavery” in Delta State.

Further, Nwoko championed the creation of Anioma State, which he believes would grant Delta North greater autonomy and bring much-needed opportunities to the region. He criticized the state government for not supporting the initiative, accusing PDP leaders of discouraging open discussions on the matter.

Despite these challenges, Nwoko expressed confidence that with support from APC leaders at both the state and federal levels, the establishment of Anioma State would eventually become a reality, offering freedom and prosperity to the people of Delta.
