El-Rufai: Tinubu’s Birthday Message To Me Shamed Those Who Didn’t Want To Greet Me

The immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed gratitude for the birthday wishes he received, particularly highlighting the congratulatory message from President Bola Tinubu, which he said “shamed” some individuals who initially did not want to extend their well-wishes.

El-Rufai, who turned 65, took to his verified Facebook page on Monday to acknowledge the overwhelming messages and prayers he received on the occasion. He described the outpouring of support as humbling and gratifying, and he expressed his thanks to everyone who reached out, including those who were hesitant to do so before Tinubu’s public message.

He wrote, “It has been about a week since many friends, associates, and admirers sent me various messages and prayers in commemoration of my 65th birthday. The prayers and good wishes were quite humbling and gratifying, but far too many and overwhelming for individual acknowledgment or response by me, hence this message.”

El-Rufai went on to joke that some people who had been reluctant to wish him well were prompted into action by the President’s message. He added, “I want to thank everyone that sent me their prayers and best wishes, including those that didn’t want to, until President Tinubu’s message shamed them into action.”

He also shared that he had tried to repost and acknowledge every message but acknowledged that he may have missed a few, offering an apology for any omissions.

Concluding his post, El-Rufai prayed for long life, good health, happiness, and prosperity for himself and for Nigeria to continue thriving as a beacon of progressive governance, democracy, and equal opportunity for all.
