JUST-IN: 3 Die From Lassa Fever Outbreak In Benue

The Benue State Government has confirmed the deaths of three individuals following an outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state. A total of 40 suspected cases have been reported, with five confirmed cases.

Dr. Yanmar Ortese, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services in Benue State, made this revelation at a press conference in Makurdi. The three fatalities represent a 60% Case Fatality Rate (CFR), which has raised serious concerns.

In light of these alarming statistics, Dr. Ortese announced the official declaration of a Lassa Fever outbreak in Benue State. The declaration serves as a call for urgent, coordinated efforts to manage and mitigate the spread of the disease.

“This declaration is a prompt to mobilize all relevant stakeholders to safeguard our communities and manage the situation effectively,” said the commissioner.
