Outrage In Katsina As FUDMA Students Protest Killing Of Colleague By Vigilantes

Violence broke out in Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, on Sunday as students from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) staged a protest over the killing of one of their own by vigilantes. The victim, Sai’d Abdulkadir, a 400-level Agricultural Science student, was shot dead after the commercial motorcyclist transporting him allegedly ignored a checkpoint set up by the vigilantes.

According to a student leader, the vigilantes opened fire when the motorcyclist failed to stop, but tragically, it was Sai’d who was struck by the bullets. The motorcyclist, however, sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment.

Outraged by the death of their colleague, FUDMA students took to the streets, blocking the Dutsin-Ma–Katsina highway and chanting slogans demanding justice for Sai’d Abdulkadir. The students expressed their anger and frustration over what they described as an unjust killing, calling for the swift prosecution of the vigilantes involved.

The incident has sparked significant tension in the town, with students and residents alike expressing their dismay over the excessive use of force by the vigilantes. Local authorities are yet to comment on the ongoing protests or provide details on the investigation into the killing.
