Security Forces Block Access to Emir Bayero’s Palace in Kano

On Wednesday, security forces sealed off all access routes leading to the Nasarawa Mini-Palace in Kano, where the former Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, resides.

Motorists were redirected to alternative paths as security personnel enforced strict access restrictions in the area, sparking widespread speculation.

Although the mini-palace has typically had a security presence, residents observed that this level of restriction was unprecedented. The sudden barricade of movement raised concerns that something unusual was unfolding.

A statement from the Kano Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, clarified that the increased security measures were in response to credible intelligence reports of a planned violent protest.

“Based on reliable intelligence about a potential violent protest organized by certain individuals, the Command, in coordination with other security agencies, has deployed personnel and resources to key locations across Kano to prevent the protest and maintain public safety,” SP Kiyawa explained.

Additionally, the police reported the arrest of 17 suspected thugs, with ongoing investigations into their activities. The statement further cautioned against unlawful gatherings, marches, or any form of violence, warning that security forces would swiftly respond to any threats to public order.
