Tight Security At APC Headquarters As Party Holds NEC Meeting
Security has been heightened around the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja as the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting convened on Wednesday.
A joint security team, comprising military, police, and other personnel, secured the premises, cordoning off the Buhari House, the APC national secretariat, located along Blantyre Street in Wuse 2 District. This move restricted both human and vehicular movement, allowing access only to NEC members and a select few others.
Among the early arrivals for the meeting were National Working Committee (NWC) members, state party chairmen, and notable figures such as former Zamfara State Governor Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, former Kebbi State Governor and current Minister of Budget and National Planning Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
As of the time of filing this report, the presence of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen was still awaited.
The NEC meeting followed the earlier session of the APC National Caucus held at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa on Tuesday, which served as a precursor to today’s session.
The NEC meeting was scheduled to start at 11 am, but as of 11:30 am, it had not yet commenced, with President Tinubu yet to arrive at the APC national secretariat.
