After Almost 2 Years In Daura, Buhari ‘Relocates’ To Kaduna

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has relocated to his residence in Kaduna after spending nearly two years in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, following the completion of his tenure.

Buhari, who retired to Daura shortly after stepping down from office on May 29, 2023, had embraced a quiet life away from active political matters. During his stay, he largely kept a low profile and focused on personal engagements rather than political affairs.

Bashir Ahmad, one of Buhari’s former media aides, confirmed the relocation through a post on social media on Thursday. Ahmad mentioned that Buhari’s decision to relocate came after a period of rest in Daura, where he stayed out of the political limelight.

Buhari’s move to Kaduna was accompanied by high-profile dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, former and current Deputy Governors of Katsina State, a former Inspector General of Police, former ministers, and several of his personal aides.

The relocation marks a new phase for the former president, who had spent significant time in Daura following his retirement from public office.
