Oladoja Elected New NANS President, Vows to Revolutionize Student Welfare

Comrade Olushola Oladoja has been elected as the new National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS). In his inaugural address, Oladoja outlined his ambitious plans to prioritize student welfare and address pressing issues facing tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

One of the key components of his agenda is a nationwide campus tour aimed at assessing the state of student welfare and facilities at various universities. This tour, he said, would enable the NANS leadership to engage directly with students and take immediate actions to address the challenges they face.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Oladoja emphasized that his leadership signifies the beginning of a new era for NANS, which would focus on inclusive, student-centered leadership. He pledged to build on the achievements of the past leadership while introducing a pragmatic approach to improving students’ welfare and Nigeria’s education system.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the immediate-past leadership of NANS, led by Comr. Lucky Emonefe and Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez. Their contributions to the struggle for students’ rights, better welfare, and quality education will always be acknowledged. I pledge to build on the solid foundation they have laid,” Oladoja stated.

Oladoja also expressed gratitude to the Students’ Union Presidents (Senators) of various tertiary institutions for their trust and cooperation. He assured them that under his leadership, NANS would focus on grassroots engagement and real-time advocacy to address the needs of students.

In addition to his plans for the campus tour, Oladoja stressed that NANS would continue to play a crucial role in nation-building, advocating for students’ voices on national issues. He also expressed his commitment to ensuring that the leadership of NANS would remain inclusive, working together with all members, including his co-contenders in the election.

“To all my co-contenders in this election, I say this is a victory for all. In the Fortune Era, there are no victors or vanquished. We are all partners in progress, and I extend my hand of fellowship to work with everyone in the collective interest of Nigerian students,” Oladoja said.

He concluded his speech by calling on students to remain united and focused on the collective struggle for a better future. Oladoja’s leadership, he promised, would usher in a new era of progress for Nigerian students and the nation as a whole.
