JUST-IN: Kidnappers Release Ex-NYSC DG Brig-Gen Tsiga
The former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd), has been released from captivity following the payment of N250million ransom to his abductors.
A credible source, who disclosed the development to LEADERSHIP during a telephone conversation, said a family member of the General Tsiga disclosed his release on Friday.
Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, from his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State by armed men.
The kidnappers, led by notorious bandit leader Babaro, had initially demanded the hefty ransom for his release. After 22 days in captivity, credible sources confirmed that Tsiga has been freed and is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command was yet to issue any official statement regarding his release.
Recall that on the night of his abduction, over 100 armed assailants stormed his Tsiga’s residence and forcibly took him and several other villagers away.
During the attack, two individuals sustained injuries, and one of the attackers was accidentally shot dead by his gang member.
