Oyo Gov’t Approves N9.97bn For Renovation Of Schools

The Oyo State Government has approved a sum of N9.97 billion for the immediate rehabilitation and renovation of schools across the state. The approval, made by the State Executive Council, was announced by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, in a statement.

The renovation project aims to provide a more conducive learning environment by addressing key infrastructural needs. The work will include the construction of perimeter fencing, the installation of toilet facilities, drilling of solar-powered boreholes, installation of solar lighting, and the provision of furniture for the schools. This initiative is designed to enhance the learning conditions for students and teachers, thereby fostering educational development in the state.

A total of fifty (50) contractors are involved in the educational intervention projects, which amount to ₦9,974,332.00.

In addition to the school renovation, the State Executive Council also approved the second phase upgrade of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan. This upgrade is part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to meeting the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for the airport.
