Special Foundation Empowers 35,000 Underprivileged Across Africa

The Special Foundation has marked a remarkable achievement after eight years of transformative initiatives, reaching over 35,000 underprivileged individuals across Africa, particularly through its educational support programs. In its 2024 Annual Impact Report, the Foundation highlighted its growing influence in shaping the future of Africa’s next generation of leaders.

The report showcases a range of initiatives aimed at creating lasting impact, including educational support for children in marginalized communities. Some of the key highlights include the inspiring “Tales of Hope” stories and school-building projects in the slums of Makoko. Additionally, the Foundation’s Special Summer School program, an annual event that offers children from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance to learn entrepreneurial skills, have fun, and remain engaged during the holidays, attracted over 5,000 children in 2024 alone. Many of these children have been attending the event for years, underscoring its long-term impact.

Another standout achievement is the Foundation’s continuous support for its scholarship beneficiaries, with more than 560 scholars across 15 states, boasting an impressive 98% retention rate. This support allows students to continue their education without interruption, setting the stage for a brighter future.

Founder of the Special Foundation, Seyi Akinwale, emphasized the power of partnerships in advancing the organization’s mission. “Every child we reach, every school we transform, and every life we touch is a testament to our partners’ commitment to creating lasting change,” Akinwale said.

The Foundation’s key partners include First E&P, Credit Direct, Sterling One Foundation, RIF Trust, GardaWorld, and Elsie Jinadu Foundation, all of whom play a significant role in supporting the Foundation’s work across the continent.

Looking ahead, Akinwale also shared plans for an upcoming Thought Leadership Summit, aiming to encourage more corporate and individual partners to join in the mission of transforming the lives of underprivileged children across Africa.

The Special Foundation, a privately funded NGO, remains a beacon of hope for thousands of children across the continent, focusing on education as a key driver of social change. Through programs like Inspire scholarships, Special Summer School, Mentorship, and the School Build initiative, the Foundation continues to impact the lives of over 15,000 children, offering them the tools they need to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
