Troops Eliminate 217 Terrorists, Arrest 574, and Facilitate 152 Surrenders in February

In February 2025, Nigerian troops achieved significant success in their internal operations, eliminating 217 terrorists and apprehending 574 others, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ). Major General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, shared the update, revealing that 152 terrorists also surrendered to the troops during this period.

In addition, the troops rescued 320 hostages and made substantial progress in the battle against oil theft. A total of 122 suspected oil thieves were arrested, and stolen products valued at N2,199,914,942 were recovered.

Maj.-Gen. Kangye detailed the recovery of a significant arsenal, including 159 AK47 rifles, 54 locally made guns, 36 dane guns, 19 pump-action guns, 4,836 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1,506 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 235 cartridges, 28 assorted arms, and 668 rounds of various ammunition.

In their ongoing efforts against crude theft, the troops seized 1,790,934 litres of stolen crude oil, 402,936 litres of illegally refined AGO, and 600 litres of DPK.
