Natasha/Akpabio Clash: Ayirimi Emami Calls for Calm Amid Accusations
In the wake of allegations made by Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Chief Ayirimi Emami, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Delta South, has urged restraint amidst the ongoing verbal conflict.
Appearing on Arise News Morning Show, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of targeting her after she rejected his alleged sexual advances.
In response, Emami, in a statement released on Saturday, called for both lawmakers to end their dispute, warning that opponents of President Bola Tinubu’s administration might seize on the situation to create distractions.
He emphasized that the “unnecessary media feud” was detracting from critical national issues, such as the signing of the N54.99 trillion 2025 budget by President Tinubu on Friday. Emami urged the public and lawmakers to focus on the budget’s potential to drive national progress, rather than the personal quarrels between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Highlighting the importance of preserving the Senate’s integrity, Emami revealed that APC leaders in the South-South region were working to mediate the dispute. He appealed for peace and unity between the parties, expressing hope that the matter would be resolved swiftly with the guidance of divine wisdom and ancestral insight.
