Ramadan: Wike Urges Muslims to Focus on Prayers and Islamic Teachings
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has called on Muslims across the country to dedicate themselves to prayers during the Ramadan fasting period. He urged them to seek Allah’s (SWT) blessings for the peaceful coexistence of the nation and to immerse themselves in the teachings of Islamic scholars throughout the holy month.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike emphasized the significance of prayers during Ramadan, particularly for the well-being of the country.
He said, “Fasting, one of the five pillars of Islam, should not merely be a period of abstaining from food and drink. It should also be a time for fervent prayers for the country. I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to open their hearts and minds to the spirit of Ramadan and allow its teachings to guide them.”
The Minister extended his congratulations to Muslim faithful for beginning the 30-day fasting period and prayed for their successful completion of the holy month.
He said, “I wish all Muslim faithful a Ramadan filled with joy and unity. May your ibadah be accepted by Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). This holy month brings with it peace, prosperity, and abundant blessings. Ramadan Mubarak.”
