Wike Urges Muslims To Reflect, Pray During Ramadan
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on Muslims across Nigeria to use the Ramadan fasting period as an opportunity for reflection and prayer for the peaceful coexistence of the country.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike highlighted the importance of embracing the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and incorporating them into daily lives. He emphasized that Ramadan should be more than a time of abstinence from food and drink, but also a period of fervent prayers for national peace and unity.
“Fasting, one of the five pillars of Islam, should not merely be a time of abstaining from food and drink; it should also be a time for fervent prayers for our nation,” Wike stated.
The minister urged Muslims, especially those in the FCT, to actively engage in prayers during this holy month, reflecting on the lessons of the Quran and allowing these teachings to guide their actions and interactions with others.
Wike also congratulated the Muslim community for reaching the start of the 30-day fasting period and expressed his sincere wishes for a peaceful and successful Ramadan observance.
“I wish all Muslim faithful a Ramadan filled with joy and unity. May your ibadah be accepted by Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). May this holy month bestow upon us peace, prosperity, and countless blessings,” Wike concluded.
