Tinubu Welcomes Sierra Leonean President Maada Bio to Abuja

President Bola Tinubu welcomed Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, to the State House in Abuja on Monday.

President Bio arrived at the Presidential Villa’s Forecourt at 12:22 pm, where he was greeted by Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. The visiting leader was then escorted by the Presidential Guards Brigade’s bagpipers before being led to a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu.

Nigeria and Sierra Leone have maintained strong diplomatic ties since their respective independences—Nigeria in October 1960 and Sierra Leone in April 1961. Both countries are active members of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU), and have partnered on various initiatives aimed at fostering peace, stability, and development across the region.
