Court Sentences Two TikTok Users to Prison for Offensive Content in Kano

 

A Magistrate Court in Kano has sentenced two TikTok users, Ahmad Isa and Maryam Musa, to one year in prison each for posting videos considered disrespectful to religious and societal values.

Earlier, the Kano State Censorship Board arrested the pair, accusing them of breaching public decency with their social media content.

During the trial, prosecutor Garzali Maigari Bichi presented charges of criminal conspiracy and the dissemination of harmful content online against the defendants.

Both Isa and Musa admitted to the charges.

Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, in her ruling, also offered the convicts an alternative of paying a fine of N100,000.

In her final remarks, the magistrate urged the accused to maintain better conduct in the future.
