Tinubu Celebrates Professor Badejo on His 70th Birthday

President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Professor Babafemi Badejo, a distinguished diplomat, scholar, and former deputy special representative of the UN Secretary-General at the UN Political Office for Somalia, on the occasion of his 70th birthday today.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu joined family, friends, and colleagues in celebrating Professor Badejo’s remarkable and impactful career at the United Nations, the African Union, and in academia.

The President highlighted Professor Badejo’s outstanding dedication to political reforms and his unwavering courage in conflict zones during his tenure at the United Nations. He also commended Badejo for his significant contributions to peacebuilding efforts in Somalia, Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, and Sudan, noting his key role in the Djibouti Initiative, which helped establish national governance structures in Somalia after years of turmoil.

President Tinubu wished Professor Badejo continued good health, strength, and success in his ongoing efforts to enrich scholarship and inspire future generations through his commitment to diligence, discipline, and the pursuit of knowledge.
