Lent: Oyebanji Charges Christians To Pray For Ekiti, Nigeria
As Christians begin this year’s Lenten season with Ash Wednesday, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has called on believers to dedicate the period to prayer for the state and the nation.
Governor Oyebanji, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, emphasized the importance of using the Lenten season for sober reflection and intercession. He urged Christians to reflect on their lives, developments around the world, and to pray for the progress and prosperity of Ekiti, Nigeria, and the global community.
The Governor further encouraged the people of Ekiti, regardless of their political or religious affiliations, to continue fostering unity, which he believes is key to driving the overall development of the state. He noted that the Lenten season coincides closely with the commencement of Ramadan, and encouraged both Christians and Muslims to leverage the fasting period to promote peace, love, and harmonious relationships across religious and societal divides.
Governor Oyebanji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace, safety, and the security of lives and property in Ekiti, in order to make the state more appealing for local and foreign investments.
“We wish all our Christian brothers and sisters worldwide and in Ekiti in particular, a successful completion of the Lenten season. We covet your continued support for the administration and our dear state, more especially during this fasting season,” the Governor concluded.
