Oyo Gov’t Installs Iron Spikes To Curb Driving Against Traffic

The Oyo State government has introduced an innovative solution to tackle the growing issue of ‘one-way’ driving by motorists. Iron spikes have been installed on the busy Idi-Ape Road in Ibadan, the state capital, as part of a larger initiative to combat traffic violations and enforce road safety.

The measure, which has attracted attention through a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the @Oyoaffairs handle, is aimed at curbing the habit of motorists driving against the flow of traffic. The installation of the iron spikes, which puncture the tires of vehicles traveling the wrong way, serves as a deterrent to individuals who violate traffic regulations.

This step is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve road discipline and reduce accidents caused by the misuse of one-way roads. Authorities have indicated that the spikes will be replicated on other major roads throughout Ibadan as they seek to ensure safer driving conditions.

The installation of these spikes is a direct response to the growing concern over traffic violations and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules. Motorists are now urged to adhere to designated traffic directions to avoid tire damage and further penalties.
