Police Kill 7 Suspected Kidnappers, 9 Armed Robbers In Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the Nigeria Police Force has successfully neutralized seven (7) suspected kidnappers and nine (9) armed robbers in targeted operations over the past two months.

According to reports, police operatives made a total of 300 arrests between January 1 and February 28, 2025, during a series of tactical raids on identified criminal hideouts and black spots across Abuja. The operations resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of arms, ammunition, and illicit substances.

CP Olatunji Disu, the Commissioner of Police for FCT Command, disclosed that specialized teams were deployed to high-risk areas, including Dei-Dei, Karu, Gwarinpa, Jikwoyi, Karimo, and Maitama, to combat rising criminal activities in the capital.

In a statement, CP Disu noted, “In a decisive move against banditry and kidnapping, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command conducted clearance operations in known bandit routes and kidnappers’ hideouts. During these operations, seven kidnappers were neutralized, while several others were arrested.”

The commissioner further emphasized that the operations had disrupted criminal activities, particularly along notorious corridors previously dominated by kidnappers and armed robbers.

“The operations resulted in the apprehension of 300 suspects, who are currently undergoing thorough profiling and screening. Those found culpable will be charged to court, while those cleared of wrongdoing will be released,” CP Disu said.

Additionally, the operations led to the arrest of 59 armed robbers, 10 kidnappers and their informants, and 16 cultists, further contributing to the ongoing fight against crime in the FCT.
