Rivers Gov’t Urges New Health Workers to Uphold Professionalism
The Rivers State Government has called on newly employed staff of the State Hospital Management Board to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in their duties.
Dr. Adaeze Oreh, the Commissioner for Health, made this appeal during a one-day orientation program for the newly employed health workers, held at the Ministry of Women Affairs auditorium in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
Dr. Oreh emphasized that the success of Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s vision for the healthcare sector could not be realized without the contributions of these new employees. She urged them to consider themselves fortunate to be among those selected for the positions from the pool of applicants.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mekele Igwe, also praised Governor Fubara for the employment initiative and encouraged the new recruits to repay the governor’s confidence by giving their best efforts to improve the state’s healthcare system.
Dr. Bright Ogbonda, the Chief Medical Director of the Rivers State Hospital Management Board, shared that over 27,000 people applied for the positions. He thanked the governor for approving the remodelling of all zonal hospitals and for authorizing the procurement of new equipment for all general hospitals in the state.
