Tinubu’s Economic Policies Yielding Results, Says Omo-Agege
Demands Accountability from Delta Governor on FAAC Allocations
The former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, asserting that they are producing the desired results for Nigeria, particularly Delta State.
Speaking at an interactive meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders from Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North local government areas of Delta State, Senator Omo-Agege, who was the Delta APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, commended President Tinubu for his steadfast commitment to economic reform.
He noted that while the initial implementation of these policies caused some challenges, they are now paving the way for significant economic growth, especially in Delta State, by increasing revenue allocation and investment opportunities in key sectors.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done exceptionally well,” Omo-Agege remarked. “If you look closely at his administration’s policies, it becomes clear that he has made remarkable progress. One of his most notable achievements is the substantial financial support provided to states, including Delta, where the FAAC allocation has tripled compared to the previous administration.”
Omo-Agege revealed that Delta State had received over ₦1 trillion in revenue allocation, marking a significant increase from what the previous administration had received. “Local governments in Delta State, including Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North, now have access to more funds than ever before,” he stated, adding that if people were fully aware of the amounts allocated, they would be astonished.
However, Omo-Agege raised concerns about the lack of visible development projects in Delta State despite the influx of funds. He demanded accountability from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, questioning how the funds were being utilized.
“The people deserve to know how their money is being spent,” Omo-Agege said. “If the state has received over ₦1 trillion, where has the money gone? I have yet to see key development projects in areas like Warri South-West, Isoko South, and Isoko North.”
He urged Deltans to demand transparency and accountability from their leaders, stressing that the significant funds provided by the federal government must benefit the people.
Omo-Agege also reminded Deltans of President Tinubu’s visit to Delta State during the election campaign, where the President observed the extreme deprivation and underdevelopment in the region, especially in the oil-producing areas. This experience, Omo-Agege said, contributed to President Tinubu’s decision to remove the fuel subsidy upon assuming office, freeing up resources to invest in state development.
Despite this, Omo-Agege noted that Governor Oborevwori had remained silent on how these resources are being utilized, particularly in the oil-producing communities, calling for better governance and transparency.
In closing, Omo-Agege urged the people of Delta State to support the APC in the upcoming 2027 elections to restore good governance, stressing that the wealth generated from the state’s oil resources must be used to uplift the people and ensure long-term development.
“This money belongs to all of us, not just the government,” he concluded. “We must stand up, work hard, and ensure we support the APC fully to restore good governance in Delta State in 2027.”
