Gunmen Abduct Family Member, Amputate Another’s Finger In Kano

Gunmen in the early hours of Saturday abducted a 20-year-old Mohammed Bello Yusha’u and amputated the finger of the abductee’s brother in Zakirai Village, Gabasawa local government area of Kano State.

Counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama disclosed this on his official X platform.

Makama cited intelligence sources, that three armed assailants wielding rifles and machetes stormed the residence of one Alhaji Yusha’u Ma’aruf at around 2:15 a.m., targeting the family.

During the assault, the attackers amputated the left finger of 23-year-old Abubakar Yusha’u and abducted his younger brother, 20-year-old Mohammed.

The gunmen also stole mobile phones and an undisclosed sum of money before fleeing the scene.

Security operatives have however, launched a manhunt for the perpetrators and are working to secure the release of the abducted victim.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but residents of Zakirai Village have expressed concern over the rising insecurity in rural areas.

Efforts to reach the Kano State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
