Kwara Governor Swears In 2 Commissioners, Reshuffles Cabinet
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has sworn in Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and Dr. Maryam Nnafatima Imam as new commissioners in his administration. The Governor also made several changes within the State Executive Council (SEC), reshuffling the portfolios of some of the existing members.
AbdulRazaq urged the newly appointed commissioners to be collaborative and fully align with the government’s ongoing efforts to build upon its achievements across various sectors.
Dr. Olohungbebe was assigned to the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, while Dr. Nnafatima Imam took over the Ministry of Social Development.
The former Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, was moved to head the Ministry of Tertiary Education. Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Arinde, who previously led the Ministry of Tertiary Education, was redeployed to the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
Additionally, Governor AbdulRazaq appointed Aliyu Kora Sabi as the Commissioner for the newly created Ministry of Transportation. Olohuntoyosi Thomas Adebayo was also moved from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to the newly formed Ministry of Livestock Development.
Dr. Afeez Abolore, who previously served as the Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, was reassigned to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh was also moved to lead the Ministry of Social Development.
The Governor emphasized that the new commissioners had earned their appointments after excelling in their previous roles as Senior Special Assistants. He urged them to commit to serving the people of Kwara State with dedication, integrity, and vision.
“This marks not just the beginning of a new chapter for the commissioners-designate, but also a renewed commitment to serving the people of Kwara State,” said AbdulRazaq. “In leadership, and especially in public service, the strength of any administration lies in the power of teamwork. We must combine our strengths and ideas to ensure Kwara is far better than we found it.”
He also highlighted the significant progress made by his administration in key areas, including public education, healthcare, infrastructure development, social inclusion, and wealth redistribution.
As the new commissioners take on their roles, the Governor urged them to embrace creativity, engage with the people, think outside the box, and make prudent decisions for the betterment of the state.
AbdulRazaq concluded by wishing the new commissioners success in their duties, offering them God’s guidance in their service to the people of Kwara.
