First Lady Extends RHI Food Outreach to Vulnerable Households in Kogi
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, has reaffirmed the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)’s commitment to supporting Nigerians, especially women, youths, and vulnerable groups.
At an event on Monday at the Government House in Lokoja, Kogi State, where food items were donated to vulnerable groups, Senator Tinubu, represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, emphasized the positive impact of the RHI Food Outreach Scheme in addressing food insecurity and improving livelihoods.
Senator Tinubu highlighted that RHI has distributed various food items to vulnerable households in eight states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Cross River, Edo, Ekiti, Gombe, Kano, Kwara, and Nasarawa. She also announced that Delta and Oyo states will be the next to benefit from the initiative.
Additionally, the First Lady noted that through the RHI Social Investment Scheme, the initiative is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Environment to establish Environment and Climate Change Clubs in secondary schools and climate change societies in tertiary institutions. These efforts aim to promote a clean and healthy environment for all citizens.
She further revealed that RHI’s Economic Empowerment Plan would provide a ₦250,000 grant to 200 Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) to help recapitalize their businesses.
Senator Tinubu explained that these programs are aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to improve the well-being of Nigerians, particularly vulnerable groups. She encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the food items to support their families.
She also commended Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, the wife of the Kogi State governor and State Coordinator of RHI, for her excellent leadership in coordinating the initiative’s programs within the state.
In her remarks, Hajia Ododo assured that the food items would reach the intended beneficiaries, emphasizing that this support would significantly alleviate hardship for many households. She pledged her commitment to ensuring fair distribution and expressed the unwavering support of Kogi women for President Tinubu’s administration. She also praised Senator Tinubu’s continued efforts in uplifting lives through RHI.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo, also expressed appreciation for the First Lady’s support through RHI, stating that Kogi State fully supports the Tinubu administration. The Governor highlighted his administration’s achievements in youth and women empowerment, as well as food palliative efforts, reiterating his commitment to providing leadership that ensures Kogi’s resources benefit the people and contribute to growing the state’s economy.
The RHI Food Outreach Programme is part of RHI’s broader efforts to combat poverty and food insecurity across the nation.
