NSITF Pays N25m Compensation to Injured National Assembly Staff

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has awarded a N25 million compensation to a female staff of the National Assembly who was injured while on duty.

The compensation cheque was presented to the Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, by NSITF Managing Director and CEO, Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, on Tuesday at the National Assembly complex.

Faleye emphasized that the injured staff was entitled to the compensation as an active subscriber to the insurance scheme. “This N25 million compensation cheque represents what NSITF stands for. The Social Insurance Scheme is vital for all workers, both in the public and private sectors, to safeguard against occupational hazards,” he said.

He further stated that NSITF is committed to ensuring that deserving enrollees receive compensation, which is why compliance with insurance payments is a top priority.

In his comments, the CNA expressed appreciation for NSITF’s efforts, saying, “This event highlights NSITF’s commitment to protecting Nigerian workers from financial vulnerability due to workplace-related health challenges.”

Ogunlana added that the initiative goes beyond financial assistance, serving to restore hope and alleviate burdens, reaffirming solidarity with all Nigerian workers who contribute significantly to the nation’s growth and development.

While commending NSITF for implementing the scheme, Ogunlana also urged the agency to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their entitlements promptly. “The National Assembly will continue to provide the necessary legislative support to strengthen the agency’s capacity to fulfill its core mandate,” he assured.
