Fire Razes Goods and Properties at Aleshinloye Market in Oyo

A devastating fire has destroyed goods, shops, and properties worth millions of naira at the popular Aleshinloye Market in Ibadan, Oyo State. The fire, which broke out at midnight, left traders devastated as many lost multiple shops in the inferno.

Among the victims, a woman reportedly lost 15 shops to the fire. The incident has caused immense loss and grief, with many traders now facing significant financial setbacks.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday. He reported that fire service personnel were still working at the scene, trying to contain the situation.

“We are currently working at Aleshinloye Market. We thank the management of SWEETCO for releasing their truck and personnel to assist. Their support has been massive. We also express our gratitude to Sumal for providing their crew to help at the scene. We are eternally grateful to them and SWEETCO,” Akinyinka said.

The fire service management, however, noted that they were unable to respond to individual inquiries at the moment due to logistical reasons.
