Ondo Attacks: Gov Aiyedatiwa Assures Residents Of Maximum Security

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has assured residents of the state that the government is intervening following the brutal attack on Alajido and Sunday Camp Farm settlements in Akure North Local Government Area. The attack, which resulted in the loss of several lives, has led to heightened concerns about security in the area.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, represented by the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the incident, describing it as a “very unfortunate situation.” Speaking on behalf of the government, Adeleye expressed condolences to the families affected by the attack and assured residents that the government would take swift action to secure the area and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The governor has also called for an urgent security meeting with all heads of security agencies in the state to prevent such incidents from happening again. He encouraged residents to return to their homes and farms, assuring them that their safety would be prioritized.

The Amotekun Commander visited the affected villages, including Alajido and Sunday Camp, where it was reported that nine lives were lost in the attack.

The Regent of Ademekun in Akure North Local Government, Princess Adelowo Adekemisola, expressed her gratitude for the immediate response from the government and security agencies. She recalled how she quickly alerted the authorities after being informed of the attack.

One of the survivors, a 35-year-old farmer, Samson Joro, from Taraba State, shared his harrowing experience. He revealed that the attack occurred at midnight when gunshots rang out. At first, the shots seemed distant, but soon they grew closer, and before he realized it, the attackers were upon them. He described hearing the screams of his neighbors before the attackers left, leaving behind nine bodies, including a man and his child.

The state government has deployed additional security forces to the affected communities, but residents are still demanding justice and greater protection. The attack has reignited concerns over the ongoing farmer-herder conflicts in the region, with many calling for stronger security measures to prevent further bloodshed.

Governor Aiyedatiwa visited several other villages in Akure North Local Government Area, including Ala, Dada, Igbodudu, Powerline, Agbo, Oyinbo, Eyin Ala, Aboro, Fatai Camp, Allison, Gbere Awo, Gbuwe, and Igbon Moon. The governor also visited villages in Ose and Owo local government areas, including Ago Ajanaku, Igbatoro, Familugba, Ute, Argentina, Imoru, and Ifon, to reassure residents of their safety.

The government’s commitment to providing security in the region remains a priority as efforts to bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice continue.
