Borno Governor Presents 110 Vehicles, 280 Houses, and More to Security Agencies
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has donated 110 new operational vehicles, 500 motorcycles, and 280 houses to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in the state.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Government House in Maiduguri, was flagged off by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. He commended Governor Zulum’s efforts, praising him as a “performing governor” in the ongoing fight against insecurity in the North-East.
Top security officials attended the ceremony, including the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Waidi Shuibu, and several deputy and assistant Inspectors-General of Police.
Of the 110 vehicles, 60 were allocated to the Police, while the remaining 50 vehicles and 500 motorcycles were assigned to the Nigerian military. In addition, 220 houses at the Mai Mala Buni Estate, 20 at Kashim Shettima Estate, and 40 more at Wulari, all in Maiduguri, were allocated to the police.
In his address, Governor Zulum emphasized the importance of providing security forces with the necessary tools to enhance their operational efficiency and effectiveness. He stated, “Today marks a significant step in our unwavering commitment to strengthening the security architecture of Borno State. We are here to present 100 operational vehicles, 500 motorcycles, and housing quarters to the Nigerian Police Force and military, who tirelessly serve and sacrifice to safeguard our communities.”
Zulum reiterated that these contributions were part of the state government’s ongoing commitment to support security agencies, which he sees as the cornerstone for peace, progress, and development in Borno State. “These vehicles will improve mobility, response times, and operational capabilities in the fight against insecurity and social vices,” he added.
Governor Zulum also expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his leadership and support for the security agencies. He emphasized that the Borno State Government has maintained a strong relationship with security forces, recognizing that the state’s recovery from insecurity and insurgency depends on their success.
“We are investing in the security forces to enhance their capacity, speed of action, and timely response to our security challenges,” Zulum said. “We are committed to working together to build a safer, more prosperous future for our people.”
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun thanked Governor Zulum for his generous support. “These operational assets, including 110 vehicles and 500 motorcycles, will undoubtedly enhance our capacity to respond to emergencies and improve community patrols. They will help us deliver better security services to the people of Borno State.”
He assured the Governor that the new assets would be immediately deployed to enhance security operations across the state.
