INEC Launches 2027 Election Project Plan Committee

As part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially inaugurated the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) to oversee the strategic framework for conducting the polls.

The inaugural meeting of the committee was held earlier this week in Abuja.

The committee, chaired by Prof. Rhoda H. Gumus, has been tasked with creating a comprehensive roadmap to ensure a smooth electoral process. Its responsibilities include reviewing the Terms of Reference, developing a detailed work plan, establishing sub-committees, designing an Elections Project Plan (EPP) Template, and setting deadlines for the submission of planning documents.

The inauguration was also attended by other National Commissioners, including:

  • Kenneth Ukeagu, Chair of the Tenders Board (Member)
  • Dr. Baba Bila, Chair of the Electoral Operations and Logistics Committee (EOLC) (Member)
  • Sam Olumekun, Chair of the Electoral Planning and Monitoring Committee (EPMC) (Member)
  • Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, Chair of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation (BEI) (Member)

In her address, Prof. Gumus stressed the importance of early and thorough planning to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process. She urged the committee members to diligently carry out their responsibilities, ensuring the integrity and transparency of the upcoming elections.
