Notorious Kidnapper Killed in Nasarawa

A notorious and wanted suspected kidnapper, identified only as Abdullahi, has been killed in a joint security operation in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the death of the suspect, who was shot near the Akwanga Central Mosque while attempting to evade arrest on a motorcycle on Friday, March 14.

The operation was conducted by the police in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and a local vigilante group, according to the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Ramhan Nansel. Abdullahi was described as a well-known armed robber and kidnapper, who had been on the police’s wanted list for multiple criminal activities.

During the operation, a search of Abdullahi led to the recovery of a Beretta pistol and 12 rounds of 9mm live ammunition. One accomplice managed to escape, despite sustaining gunshot wounds, and a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing individual.

SP Nansel confirmed that the body of the deceased suspect was evacuated and transported to the Akwanga General Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, praised the operatives for their professionalism and effective collaboration during the operation. He urged the security forces to maintain their efforts in the fight against criminal elements in the state.

CP Mohammed also issued a stern warning to criminals, urging them to desist from their illegal activities or face decisive action from the law enforcement agencies.
