The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has made significant strides in combating criminal activities within the state, arresting 53 suspected thugs and drug dealers in a series of coordinated operations.

The crackdown, carried out between March 13 and 14, targeted notorious criminal hideouts and black spots across key areas in Kano city, including Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Zanzado, Rimi Market, Shahuchi Park, Kano Line, Sharada, Ja’en, and Dan Agundi.

Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the committee’s Public Relations Officer, stated that the intelligence-led operations resulted in the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs and weapons. Among the recovered items were:

  • Three parcels and 50 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis sativa
  • Two bottles of codeine syrup
  • Two tubes of rubber solution
  • A gallon of a substance known as “suck and die”
  • 105 pieces of suspected exol tablets
  • Five cutlasses, two pairs of scissors, two wooden clubs, and a significant amount of suspected charms.

One of the major highlights of the operation was a raid at a notorious drug joint in Zanzado, where authorities recovered a large quantity of cannabis sativa. Additionally, a delivery vehicle and five cattle, believed to belong to a known drug dealer, were seized.

The statement concluded by confirming that all 53 suspects would be charged in court once the investigation is completed.
