Kwara Revokes Signage and Billboard Licenses, Orders Removal of Unauthorized Structures

The Kwara State Government has announced the revocation of all signage and billboard licenses for the year 2024 across the state.

Ibrahim Garba, Secretary of the State Task Force Committee on Illegal Billboards and Signages, issued a statement on Sunday, warning that “identifications are ongoing and enforcement of removal will begin this week.”

Garba explained that the revocation was necessary to facilitate the removal of unauthorized and improperly placed billboards, posters, and light pole banners in Ilorin and other urban areas.

He further clarified that the initiative is in line with the urban renewal program led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, which aims to transform Kwara into a modern, aesthetically pleasing state.

“No new registrations or renewals of signage and billboard licenses will be processed until further notice,” Garba stated. “This temporary measure will allow the state to finalize a new regulatory framework for outdoor advertising.”
