BREAKING: Tinubu Declares State of Emergency in Rivers, Suspends Gov Fubara, Deputy
President Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday night, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, effectively suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy for an initial period of six months.
In their stead, Tinubu has appointed a former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Ikwe Ibas, as the Sole Administrator of the state.
The President explained that the actions were taken to prevent further breakdown of law and order in the state, which has been embroiled in a political crisis for nearly a year.
