BREAKING: Tinubu Holds Talks with Rivers Sole Administrator Ibas at State House

President Bola Tinubu is meeting with the newly appointed sole administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (Rtd), at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday afternoon.

Vice Admiral Ibas, a former Chief of Naval Staff, arrived at the State House around 12:50 pm for the meeting, which comes shortly after the president declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to ongoing political and security challenges.

Corruption reports that President Tinubu declared the state of emergency on Tuesday night, citing a prolonged political crisis that has severely disrupted governance and threatened the state’s security.

As part of the measures, Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months. In their place, Vice Admiral Ibas was appointed sole administrator with the responsibility of overseeing governance, though he is not authorized to enact new laws.

The president also emphasized that the state’s judiciary would remain independent throughout the period of the state of emergency.
