Fire Destroys Properties Worth Millions in Kano
A devastating fire has destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira at the Simra Multi-Purpose Market and Small Scale Rubber Recycling Industries in the Dakata area of Kano State.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire broke out around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, likely triggered by a spark from an electric pole when the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) restored power to the area.
The blaze reportedly consumed several factories involved in nylon and plastic production, causing extensive damage. Ibrahim Aliyu, one of the witnesses, revealed that the fire destroyed production machines, raw materials, and finished goods in the market.
Kano State’s newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, visited the scene to express sympathy with the victims and ordered a discreet investigation into the cause of the fire. He assured the public that no lives were lost in the incident, but urged residents to take extra caution to prevent future fire outbreaks.
Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the fire and stated that more detailed information would be provided after the investigation is concluded.
