New Kano CP Reaffirms Commitment to Combat Crime in the State

Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the 47th Commissioner of Police for the Kano State Police Command, has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling crime in the state.

He made this declaration on Wednesday during his first interactive meeting with officers and personnel of the Command since assuming office.

The newly appointed Commissioner identified key criminal activities in Kano, including thuggery, phone snatching, and drug abuse. He vowed to employ proactive strategies to address these issues head-on.

“We are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in our service,” he assured.

Bakori outlined specific areas of focus, including:

  • Thuggery (Fadan Daba): He emphasized plans to deploy proactive measures to prevent and respond to incidents of thuggery, including mobile phone armed robbery, ensuring the safety of lives and properties.
  • Drug Abuse (Kwaya): The CP pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to combat drug abuse, supporting rehabilitation and reintegration programs for affected individuals.
  • Domestic Violence: He promised to strengthen response mechanisms to address domestic violence and ensure that victims receive timely and effective support.
  • Kidnapping along Border LGAs: Bakori announced plans to enhance intelligence gathering and collaborate with local communities and neighboring states to prevent and respond to kidnapping incidents.
  • Cyber Crimes: He vowed to partner with specialized units to address cyber-related crimes, fraud, and other financial crimes, utilizing technology to apprehend and prosecute offenders.

The Commissioner also shared his plans to establish strategic priorities, build strong partnerships with local communities, and foster trust and collaboration to prevent and resolve conflicts throughout the state.

To ensure the effectiveness of his team, Bakori pledged to prioritize capacity building, training, and development for the officers under his command while fostering strong synergy with other security agencies in the state.
