Abuja Explosion: FCT Residents Urged to Donate Blood for Victims
The National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) is urgently calling on Nigerians, particularly residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to volunteer blood donations to help save the lives of victims involved in the devastating tanker explosion that occurred on Wednesday evening along the Abuja-Keffi Road near Karu.
The explosion left multiple casualties, many of whom were rushed to various hospitals and are in critical need of immediate blood transfusions to survive.
In a statement on Thursday, the Director-General of NBSA, Professor Saleh Yuguda, appealed to Nigerians to come forward and donate blood at designated centers and hospitals in the FCT.
“Hospitals and emergency response teams are working tirelessly to save lives, but an adequate blood supply is crucial to their efforts,” he said, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
The NBSA emphasized that voluntary blood donations could mean the difference between life and death for victims in critical condition. Professor Yuguda called on those eligible to help by visiting the NBSA office or other designated donation centers.
The agency reiterated its commitment to saving lives and encouraged all willing and able individuals to contribute to this life-saving cause.
