BREAKING: House Of Reps Endorses State Of Emergency In Rivers

The House of Representatives has officially passed a resolution endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State, following the prolonged political crisis in the region.

The decision, made amid growing controversy and political tension, signals legislative support for the president’s move to suspend the state’s governor, deputy governor, and the State House of Assembly. The resolution passed during Thursday’s plenary session, which saw 243 lawmakers in attendance.

This endorsement by the House of Representatives effectively cements federal control over the administration of Rivers State under emergency rule, despite strong opposition from political leaders, civil society groups, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Earlier on Thursday, Atiku, along with other stakeholders, had condemned the action as a “malicious” power grab.

Further details will be provided later.
