The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, has announced that all corps members will begin receiving a new monthly allowance of N77,000 starting from March 2025.
Brigadier General Nafiu expressed that both the NYSC and the Federal Government are committed to ensuring the welfare of corps members, emphasizing that their well-being will always be a top priority.
The NYSC Director-General made the announcement on Thursday while engaging with corps members at the Wuse and Garki NYSC Zonal Offices in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.
He thanked the corps members for their dedication and selfless service to the nation, urging them to remain calm, focused, disciplined, and committed to their responsibilities. Nafiu also commended the founders of the NYSC for establishing the scheme and encouraged everyone to continue supporting its mission.
Describing the NYSC as an impactful and valuable initiative, he highlighted its role in fostering unity, building bridges, and offering graduates the opportunity to learn about different cultures outside their place of origin.
Nafiu further emphasized that the NYSC management would continue to promote core values such as patriotism, discipline, self-restraint, leadership, and teamwork among future corps members.
“Starting from March, you will each receive a monthly allowance of Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira. The NYSC is known for its meticulous record-keeping, and I assure you that your allowances will be paid promptly. Both the nation and the NYSC appreciate your service,” he said.
On behalf of her fellow corps members at the Garki Zone, Zaka Deborah Alheri, a serving corps member, expressed her gratitude to the Director-General for his dedicated efforts in ensuring the increase in their monthly allowance.
