EFCC Arrests 10 Suspected Fraudsters, Recovers 21 Phones, Luxury Cars, Others

Operatives from the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

In a statement shared via its verified social media accounts on Friday, the EFCC revealed that the suspects were apprehended on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in a coordinated sting operation across various locations in Uyo.

According to the commission, five of the suspects were arrested at Shelter Afrique, while the others were apprehended at Ifa, off Oron Road, also in Uyo.

The arrested individuals included two undergraduates, three online cloth vendors, one forex trader, and a film director. Items seized from the suspects included 21 mobile phones, six laptops, one international passport, and three luxury cars.

The EFCC stated that the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded. The arrest underscores the commission’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on cybercrime and internet fraud.
