Gunmen Kill MACBAN Chairman In Plateau
Suspected gunmen have killed Muhammad Adamu, the chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau State.
The news of the deceased’s death was made known to journalists by the State Chairman of MACBAN, Yusuf Babayo in Jos the Plateau state capital.
Babayo said Adamu was attacked in his residence at Barkin Ladi town soon after breaking his fast.
The Plateau State MACBAN chairman condemned the incident in its entirety, calling on security agencies to investigate and arrest the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Similarly, a youth leader in the community, Alhaji Danjuma Ibrahim also confirmed the incident.
Ibrahim said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Barkin Ladi General Hospital.
While condemning the incident, Ibrahim recalled that this was the third time the chairman had been targeted by gunmen but were unsuccessful until the latest attack.
He said, “The gunmen attacked him and shot him severely in the body. There are bullet wounds on the body. After they shot him, they fled the area. Security personnel, including police and soldiers have responded because we were together with them when he was rushed to the hospital.”
The youth leader described the attack as unfortunate, explaining that prior to his death, “he played a vital role in ensuring peace within the Barkin Ladi area. His demise will continue to linger in our memory because of his significance to sustaining peace in the community. “
Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred has not responded to enquiry by our correspondent on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
