PDP South-East Chair Congratulates Anyanwu on Supreme Court Victory

The South-East National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Chidiebere Egwu, has congratulated the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, following his victory at the Supreme Court on Friday.

Egwu expressed his satisfaction with the integrity of the Supreme Court Justices for upholding both the constitution of the party and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In a statement signed by him and made available to LEADERSHIP after the apex court’s ruling, Egwu described the judgment as a positive development for Nigerian democracy, restoring hope to millions of PDP members across the country.

“This ruling also sends a strong message that political desperation and inordinate ambition cannot take anyone far,” Egwu remarked.

He urged Senator Anyanwu to work collaboratively with other PDP stakeholders and leaders in the South-East to bring back those who left the party due to what he called the “high-handedness” of the expelled zonal chairman, Chief Ali Odefa.

Egwu also pledged to join forces with Anyanwu and other party leaders to address outstanding issues within the party. He emphasized the need to conduct the delayed State Congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra states promptly, to strengthen the PDP in the region ahead of the next general elections.

He lamented that the PDP had been unable to attract candidates to purchase governorship forms in Anambra State due to alleged greed and selfish leadership under Odefa, causing uncertainty among party members.

“Our immediate task now as leaders of the PDP in the South-East is to ensure that state congresses are conducted in Ebonyi and Anambra states,” Egwu stated. “Both states are currently suffering within the PDP, and that’s why no one bought forms for the upcoming November 2025 governorship election in Anambra. With this ruling, we can now conduct valid congresses in these two states.”

Egwu expressed optimism that the party would now regain its strength in the South-East, paving the way for a more successful future in the region.
