Flutterwave Partners with FIRS to Enhance Digital Tax Collections

Flutterwave has announced its role in facilitating digital tax collections for the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) as part of efforts to modernize tax payment systems in Nigeria. This partnership enables the FIRS to utilize Flutterwave’s advanced payment infrastructure to collect taxes, levies, and other payments from individuals and businesses across the country.

With this integration, Flutterwave simplifies the tax payment process for individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and large corporations, ensuring a fast, secure, and transparent experience. By working with the FIRS, Flutterwave offers a range of digital payment options, real-time payment tracking, offline payment capabilities, and a secure payment system for Nigerians both domestically and abroad.

Olugbenga Agboola, CEO of Flutterwave, stated, “At Flutterwave, we are committed to leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and drive economic growth. By simplifying and increasing the transparency of tax payments, we are helping to digitize government collections and support national development, which aligns with our mission.”

The partnership introduces key benefits such as real-time payment tracking, multiple digital and mobile payment options, offline tax payment capabilities, and enhanced transparency for both taxpayers and the FIRS. It also enables Nigerians in the diaspora to easily fulfill their tax obligations.

“These advancements align with the FIRS’ goal of modernizing government collections and improving the user experience,” Agboola added.

Olufunmilayo Olaniyi, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Flutterwave, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “Working with the public sector is vital for shaping the future of digital payments in Nigeria. This partnership highlights our commitment to delivering solutions that better serve Nigerians, foster trust, and drive impactful innovation.”

With a proven track record in Africa, Flutterwave continues to be a leader in public sector digitization in Nigeria. In 2024, the company also partnered with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to launch a cybercrime research center, reinforcing its commitment to financial security and technological innovation.

As a key player in facilitating government tax collections, Flutterwave remains at the forefront of fintech solutions, supporting business operations and growth across Nigeria and beyond.
