JUST-IN: Catholic Priest Fr Ubaechu Kidnapped In Imo
Rev. Fr. John Ubaechu, the parish priest of Holy Family Catholic Church in Izombe, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, was kidnapped on Sunday evening by unknown assailants in Ejemekwuru, Imo State.
This was confirmed by the Owerri Catholic Archdiocesan Chancellor and Secretary, Rev. Fr. Patrick Mbarah, in a circular addressed to the church’s faithful on Monday.
According to the Chancellor, Fr. Ubaechu was on his way to attend the Priests’ Annual Retreat when the kidnapping occurred along Ejemekwuru Road in Oguta.
The statement called for prayers for the safe return of the kidnapped priest, saying, “We invite all Christ’s faithful and all men and women of goodwill to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release of our Priest.”
The notice continued, “We commend our brother, Rev Fr John Ubaechu to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, for his speedy release from the hands of his abductors.”
