Kogi Jailbreak: Another 2 Escapee Inmates Rearrested
Two more of the twelve inmates who escaped from the Koton Karfe Correctional Service in Kogi State have been rearrested, bringing the total number of recaptured escapees to seven.
This was confirmed by the Acting Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Sly Nwakuche, during a press briefing on Monday at the Koton Karfe Correctional Service facility.
Nwakuche expressed regret over the loss of one correctional officer, who was killed by the escaped inmates during the breakout. He vowed that efforts would continue until all the remaining escapees are apprehended.
He further urged the public to assist law enforcement agencies by providing any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining inmates.
It was earlier reported that twelve inmates had escaped from the Federal Correctional Center in Koton Karfe in the early hours of Monday. An officer at the facility confirmed that one of the escapees had been recaptured and is providing valuable information to law enforcement authorities.
The Kogi State Government has also pledged to collaborate with security agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the jailbreak and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
