Rivers: Ibas Makes First Appointment, Names Prof Worika New SSG

As Head of Service Resigns

 

 

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has made his first significant appointment since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu following the declaration of emergency rule in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Vice Admiral Ibas announced the appointment of Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG). The appointment, according to Ibas, was made after a thorough evaluation of Worika’s qualifications, extensive experience, and his performance during the rigorous selection process.

Ibas emphasized that the appointment is in line with his administration’s goal to leverage the exceptional human capital of Rivers State to foster peace, stability, and security in the region.

In another development, Ibas confirmed the resignation of the state’s Head of Service, Dr. George Nweke. The Sole Administrator expressed regret over Nweke’s resignation and thanked him for his significant contributions to the state’s administration during his tenure.

While wishing Dr. Nweke the best in his future endeavors, Ibas announced the appointment of Dr. Mrs. Iyingi Brown, the Permanent Secretary, Welfare in the Office of the Head of Service, as the acting Head of Service. He congratulated Dr. Brown on her new role and reassured the people of Rivers State of his commitment to maintaining neutrality, peace, and stability in the state.
